In Asia you see LoL EVERYWHERE, malls, buses, billboards ETC.Īnother thing is, do you know who is currently at the top of the Korean scene atm? All these teams and players, theyre mostly "top" (and i use this cautiously) of the NA scene. The reality of the situation is LoL got the first step in marketing their game. The assumption about asia in GENERAL.LoL wont die out anytime soon.if youve been to Asia, youll know why. Your assumptions about LoL in Korea simply don't match reality. Hell, the only reason I am playing LoL is because I didn't wanna play Dota2 with 200+ping and while Nexon changed their policy due to Valve's involvement, they used to restrict foreigners from their services. Living in Korea and seeing the LoL craze first hand I can tell you the hype behind Dota2 is highly overstated. The news dota websites write about it seems too optimistic for Dota's future in Korea but it might not be the reality.

but i don't really know what the details are. There are also news about Koreans having problems with Korean servers etc. I think the game might get "figured out" because Riot is trying so hard to get everyone play the game. The game is too easy on mechanics which means "ez" for Koreans too. There's no real incentive for any kid aspiring to be a progamer to favor DotA2 over LoL unless they prefer the game, which when all your friends are playing LoL wouldn't you just play LoL too? KeSPA teams) picking up DotA2 squads and DotA2 becoming a premiere eSport title within Korea, I just don't see it happening. Of course, anytime a new premiere eSport title comes around and there are companies pledging money to its development (in this case Nexon and Valve) there will be hype and interest, but is it sustainable? Unless we start seeing major Korean sponsors (i.e. In addition with KeSPA wants to expand their involvement in LoL, I don't really ever see DotA 2 becoming huge in Korea.

How many Korean pro teams have Dota2 teams? Just FXO.

All the money is in LoL right now, tournaments, sponsors, pro teams, etc. Koreans for the most part have never been interested in DotA, they played Chaos instead and moved onto LoL afterwards. I don't think Koreans will be god-tier in Dota2 anytime soon.
